Valentines Day is probably one of my favorite “holidays” of the year. Simply because I love a lot of people. It celebrates love and happiness. This year I have decided to give some gifts out to my best friend, my intern, mom, and aunt. (Etc) Valentines Day isn’t a day where I want to spend over 50$. I seriously think post Christmas nobody wants to spend that much on gifts. Today I’ve put together my 16 top gift ideas.
Starting with Ayesha Currys, “The Seasond Life”. This is probably one of my favorite cook books personally. This book is perfect for the chef in your life. Also make sure to check out her “Homemade” meal delivery boxes. Those also make the perfect gift for anyone!
(on a budget) Essential for every girl, of any age. You can find these on amazon for cheap but still look great.
Pink Heart Pillow:
Target is probably one of my favorite stores. They offer so many cute valentines day items. Whether you’re into home decor person or a gift person.
Lush: Lush is the perfect place to find a gift for anyone. My go to would definitely be a good face mask or bath bomb. Add a cute note and its done.
Fresh Skincare: Fresh is one of my favorite skin car brands. They offer these super cute lip tints that are SO moisturizing. I'm not a huge colored lip type of person, but these are amazing.
Colorpop: Yes Please Pallete! This is my current favorite palate and its under 50$! If you friend, girlfriend, etc is into makeup she will love this palette so much. ( and it will save you a dime )
Essie: Gel nail polish for the win.
Personalized Maps: These are so cute for anyone honestly. I have one of Chicago and New York City my two favorite cities.
Forever 21: Rose gold headphones. The rose gold give it that Valentines Day feel.
Burts Bees: If you've read some of my recent posts you know I love the Rose water from Burts Bees. Its a must.
Rose Pendant: This Rose pendant is probably one of my favorites. Simply yet very elegant. Princess vibes.
Zodiac Sign Ring: I am not a huge Zodiac sign follower, but I love these rings so much. I love how they are unique to your sign.
One Last Thing Box: duh! Email me to get a hold of a special edition valentines day box.
One Last Thing: Some times the smallest gifts mean the most.
Skin care is probably one of my favorite things to talk about and shop for. I started wearing makeup at 13 and it was totally not necerssary, but me being insecure I did anyways. It never damaged my skin, but I realized that being so use to having it on made my insecurities worse. I tend to have a pale-ish/ rosey look in my face. I get red easily and I have days where I am so pale I look sick. (nickname ghost is a usual for me) I hid that with concelers and foundations for so long. I can't say I ever had horrible skin, but I do have occaional acne/redness/dark under eyes.
This past year I spent a lot of money, time, and dedication to getting my skin back on track and clear enough to feel confident without makeup. I honestly don't mind not wearing makeup anymore and it is the best feeling ever. Below are my favorite skin care products, diy face masks, and store bought face masks. These things did wonders!
BEST SKIN CARE PRODUCTS:
1. St Ilves Exfoliate & Nourish Coconut Oil Scrub- This scrub is so inexpensive, it smells great, and doesn't leave a tacky feeling after.
2. Cetaphil- A must if you have acne. It honestly makes your face feel so smooth.
3. Artistry Hydrating Cleanser- This has been my GO TO. It is a bit pricey, but I has done miracles.
4. Burts Bees Rosewater Toner- I have very sensitive skin so toner is a hard on. This does not irriate my skin at all and hydrates!
5. The Body Shop: Tea tree oil- I have been using this in my routine for over a year. It has gotten rid of my scars and blemishes. 100% recommend.
6. Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum- This is a miracle maker. I have dry spots on my nose and this helps keep those spots hydrated all day.
7. Tarte Maracana oil- My favorite after a face mask!(store-bought)
8. Indian Healing clay- I only use this a couple times it helps with acne especially bumps.
9. Pixi Glow Mist- I love using this before makeup, after my primer. Keeps me glowing and a fresh feel.
10. Coconut oil- On really bad skin days is when I bring out the coconut oil. Does wonders.
BEST STORE BOUGHT FACE MASKS-
1. Shea Moisture Clarifying Mud Mask-
2. Lush: Cup o Coffee-
3. Fresh: Rose Face Mask-
4. Elf Hydrating Bubble Mask
5. ANY " I'm Real" sheet Mask-
6. Peach&lily Soothe and Restore-
BEST DIY FACE MASKS:
DIY face masks are usually easy, but finding ones that works for you may not be. Personally I know some masks will do absouletly nothing and others will work miracles. The masks below and ones that have worked best for me over time.
DIY PEEL OFF MASK:
1 1/2 TEASPOON GELATIN
1 TABLESPOON MILK
HONEY UNTIL STICKY TEXTURE.
This face mask was used my some of my relatives before face masks were a "thing". It is a really strong face mask, but it will peel away blackheads, dry skin, etc. Make sure to hydrate after!
DIY GLOW MASK:
1 TABLESPOON OF YOUGURT
HALF A LEMON SQUEEZED
TEA TREE OIL (OPTIONAL)
This is my go to when my face just needs a refresh and a glow. Only thing is I am not a fan of the yogurt smell on my face... Add an essential oil or tea tree oil to better the smell.
DIY FIRMING MASK:
1 TABLESPOON COFFEE GROUNDS
1 TABLESPOON OF COCONUT OIL
This mixture will look strange but trust me when I say it leaves your skin firm & exfoliates!
One Last Thing: Make sure to find the best product for you! Don't settle for less!
2017, was a year of trying many different products and finding what works best for my skin. Here is a list of my top 10 products I used in 2017, and will be bringing into 2018. Enjoy.
Personally, I love these products for so many reasons. Starting off with CoverGirl. I have always been a fan, especially since my first ever mascara was a CoverGirl mascara it hits close to come. The TruBlend bronze is one of my all time favorite bronzers that I found late in 2017. It gives a natural glow without the muddy look. I usually pair that with the Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation. It leaves a great finish and I find that I can build it up to full coverage if I need be. The Easy Breezy Brow Sculpt is my go to for a night out when I want a defined bold look. Overall I have to say CoverGirl did it for me. Nailed it.
Some of my other favorite products came from Colorpop, Smashbox, Elf, Morphe, Lush, Artistry, The Body Shop, and more.
I just found 2017 to be a year of simple looks and products that were worth the money wether it be drugstore or high end. All of these products are definitely amazing products that deserve a buy. I did not include many skin care products that I use, but there are keepers.
One Last Thing: Don't break the bank trying to find the perfect foundation. It's not worth it. Pick up the best gems from Covergirl.com below!
My skin is something my mom always taught me take care of, for as long as I could rememeber. I think treating your skin is so important. I TRY my hardest to make sure I take care of my skin. I know I have my days where grabbing makeup wipes seems like the biggest task ever after a long day. This routine is the routine I do 5/7 days a week because the other two days it is nearly impossible.
I start off with COCONUT OIL, this does wonders. It takes off all the makeup I had on during the day. It doesn't irritate my skin at all.
After cleaning off my makeup I use tea tree oil on any acne I have or bumps.
I cleanse my skin with Artistry Advanced Creamy Foam Cleanser. This is on the pricey side but well worth it if you are trying to clear up acne. I use the partner protecting night lotion. THIS IS HEAVEN. It smells so good and hydrates!!!
I end with the MARIO BADESCU facial spray. I also use this in the morning as a pre setting spray for my face. I try to exfoliate at least twice a week. Below is my favorite exfoliating DIY FACE SCRUB...
FACE SCRUB: #1
COFFEE EXFOLIATING MASK
3 TABLESPOONS GROUNDED COFFEE
1 TABLESPOON OF BROWN SUGAR
1/2 TABLESPOON OF COCONUT OIL/ OR OLIVE OIL.
MIX INGREDIENTS INTO BOWL, SPREAD ONTO FACE EVENLY AND WAIT 20 MINUETS. FOLLOW WITH WASHING FACE AND HYDRATING SPRAY.
One Last Thing: Treat yourself.
November is the month where I spend my free time mainly roaming Target buying random unnecessary things I don't need. In reality it's not only Target its every store... through this month I have picked up some of my favorite beauty products of all time. Heres my list:
#1 Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in "Idol"
I got this blush on a random Ulta shopping day with a friend. Although I am a fan of Tarte and own lots of their products, I had never bought any of their blushes. In general I am not a blush type of girl, but these!!! I actually don't use it very heavly or I use it as a highlighter. It is my current go-to!(mainly as a highlighter)
#2 Steve Laurant Percision Tip Liner | Black
Eyeliner for me isn't a staple in my daily routine. In middle school I mastered winged eyeliner and wore in all through freshman year of high school. I stopped doing that when my favorite liquid eyeliner forumla was changed. I finally found a new eye liner that I actually love! I still don't use this everyday, but the formula is amazing! It's so easy to use, and makes mornings faster if I do choose to use eyeliner.
#3 Milani 2-1 Foundation
For the longest time I have used high end foundations in fear of using a drugstore foundation and it ruining my skin. The other day I finally took leap and bought this foundation. AND let me say... wow. My skin is combo skin. I have always had a tough time with foundations with my skin being very sensitive. This drugstore foundation has actual done wonders leaving me with a nice dewy look.
#4 Orbibe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
This dry shampoo is a bit on the high end, but it is worth it!! I have always used a different brand of dry shampoo, until I found this! It is helps volumize and keep my hair looking fresh on the days I don't wash my hair.
#5 Marc Anthony True Professional: Hydrating Coconut Oil&Shea Butter
Having curly hair is probably the biggest issue in my busy life. Over the last two years I have been straightening and having keratin treatments done on it to keep it straight and frizz free. Now I finally have almost completely cut out heat from my hair hair routine. My ends are horrid!! I would do the big cut, but as many know I am known for my short hair and I really want to grow it out. It's been over 10 years since I have had long hair sooo, it's time for change. This product helps keep my curls bouncy, and super hydrated. Love..
#6 Context Eyecream : Vitamin C All Day
Although this is a day time cream I find it helps a lot at night. I wake up refreshed and without puffy eyes. Definitely one of my favorite eye creams. I have sensitive skin so the fact that this works and works well is a win win!
#7 SleepTight Oil
This oil is something I randomly picked up at TJ Max one day and from then on have been using it daily. In reality I am an over thinker and happen to have a lot of anxiety when it comes to... everything! Sleeping can be hard for me if I didn't get a work out in and this has helped so much. i have been using multiple different brands even making it at home is easy! It has lavender and chamomile oil that helps me have a peaceful night.
#8 Lisa Frank x Glamour :Dolls Bitten & Bronzed Matter Bronzer
This one is kind of funny to me because when I think Lisa Frank I think of elementary school and my neighbor with her collection of stickers, backpacks, and colorful rainbow items. Being a 2000's baby I kind of missed the whole Lisa Frank stage but I do remember my neighbor giving me old toys and folders splattered with Lisa Frank stickers, etc. SO this bronzer was either going to be a hit or miss. Surprisingly this product is my current favorite bronzer! It doesn't make me look muddy and doesn't make my skin itch or breakout. Go to say this ones a hit.
ONE LAST THING: It's okay to splurge a little, your skin and body will thank you.
